About
me
I am a qualified counsellor who trained at the Gestalt Centre in London.
I have lived in London for over twenty years and my whole professional
life has centred on working with people. I enjoy listening to and being
with others. I have been a social worker since the 1980s and have an
ongoing commitment to vocational, professional and academic training.
I currently work part-time in the NHS in mental health and have a wide
range of experience in working with depression, trauma, loss and bereavement,
including working as a counsellor in a GP surgery. I am especially interested
in self-esteem, anxiety, sexuality, relationship issues, and self-development.
In my
personal and work life I have lived with anxiety and low self-esteem
for many years. I have experienced personal therapy, and also group
therapy as part of my training. I am committed to working in a non-judgmental,
anti-discriminatory way. I feel that my own personal development, skills
and experience enable me to work professionally and authentically with
people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
As a member
of the BACP, I am bound by its code of ethics and subject to its complaints
procedure.
